Candice Schott, Midwife

“Find your village. Ask for help. You got this!”

Candice believes birth is one of the most impactful experiences of our lives – for both mothers and babies. The way we do it is one of the most important decisions we will ever make. She believes that the greatest legacy mothers leave behind is the love they give their children, and that love begins in the womb.

Candice aims to integrate functional nutrition and traditional practices to educate women while motivating health and well-being.  Women’s health is a vulnerable realm, and it begs to be addressed with dignity and individuality. Given the proper groundwork, reproductive health is a positive, supportive, and rewarding experience. The intuition that comes with birthing and mothering is a source of vitality and deep maternal grace for Candice.  She grounds this perspective with each mother throughout preconception, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care.  It’s a part of her heart and soul, and helping women achieve the birth of their dreams honors that calling.

Vibrant and compassionate, Candice brings 12 years of traditional midwifery experience and is consistent in honoring the intuition of the mother, deeply rooted in trust for birth. She began as a birth assistant for traditional midwives serving many Amish families and rural communities where she was taught to let birth unfold in all its beauty and variation. Her heart was further called to midwifery where parents felt a greater sense of control over how their child was brought into the world. She believes that women have the wisdom they need for birth and motherhood seeded within them. Her goal is to help them discover it, nurture it, celebrate it, and pass it on to the next generation.

Candice earned her degree in the Science of Midwifery from Southwest Wisconsin Direct Entry Midwifery Program. Midwifery training was no joke - despite her passion and prayer, it was a time of deep joy, deep learning, deep molding, deep exhaustion, and deep sacrifice. The sacrifices made were transformed into beautiful gifts in pursuit of learning well and loving hard. Being a midwife is a way of life and she is beyond thankful that her family supports her in this calling. Teamwork makes the dreamwork.....husbands are the REAL MVP!!

Candice currently provides personalized maternity care, home birth services for families seeking a deeply connected, empowered birth experience, and holistic women's wellness and gynecology from menstruation to perimenopause and beyond to support women through their menstrual cycles and hormonal health.

Rooted in the dignity of the female body, Candice holds space for young women to see their cycles not as a burden, but as a sign of thoughtful craftsmanship. She is passionate about preparation for periods, body literacy, menstrual management, and self-care as a natural part of a woman’s life. Her goal is to build self-esteem, positive body image, and confidence in relationships. She hopes to change the dialogue around puberty so young teens celebrate the divine world of womanhood!

She is passionate about faith, family, homeschooling, alternative practices such as vaccine-free or natural immunity approaches, circumcision, tandem nursing, and placenta encapsulation. She's a wife to her best friend of 25 years and they have 12 earthside children and 8 in heaven.  With firsthand experience in both hospital and homebirths, she has learned that strength includes knowing limits and wisdom means recognizing when to seek help. She has had medicated and unmedicated hospital births, C-section, VBAC, shoulder dystocia with a 12lb and 13 lb baby (yes, a couple of hefty miracles!), late miscarriages with severe hemorrhages, and home births. Candice has experienced birth with deep support, and birth that felt anything but personal.  After years of navigating hospital systems and policy overload, she chose a different path. Birthing at home brought peace, not just because it was familiar, but because it reconnected with the truth that birth is a personal, powerful, and a sacred responsibility.

As her grown children begin to walk into their own lives, she is reminded of the importance of a strong network and trustworthy support. Her own experiences as a parent enhance her ability to laugh through, connect with, and empathize along all the unique moments that bring us to confident and bonded parenthood.

In between catching babies, she adores spending time chasing her barefoot (and sometimes naked) kiddos, bumpin’ old school beats and dancing to OG bangers in the kitchen, family dinners around the table, reading, and sleeping in nature.
